A day after tension erupt in National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, a two-member team of union human resource development ministry (HRD) will arrive here on Wednesday to assess the situation in the campus.
“A two-member team of HRD ministry is arriving on Wednesday to take stock of the situation in NIT Srinagar where a group of non-local students clashed with police on Tuesday,” a senior administrative official told IANS here.
The official said the situation in the campus was calm and no untoward incident was reported during the night.
Paramilitary central reserve police force (CRPF) was deployed inside the campus on Tuesday evening after a group of students clashed with the police.
Non-local students shouting slogans had tried to take to the road when police intercepted their march at the main gate of the campus.
Protesting students also tried to rough up a senior police official who advised them not to take to the roads as that could result in a law and order situation.
