The union cabinet on Wednesday decided to move official amendments to the Appropriation (Acts) Repeal Bill, 2015, and the Repealing and Amending (Third) Bill, 2015, and to pursue the said bills pending in the RajyaSabha.
“The enactments repealed in reality have lost their meaning but are still on the statute book. The repealing of the Acts whose terms have ended will in no way cause any negative impact on actions that were validly taken under these laws… Their repeal will serve the purpose of cleaning the statute book,” an official statement said.
The cabinet meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
